Windows 10 update renders computer unuseable

So,

 

Laptop working this morning.

 

At end session - no option to avoid update. 30 minutes after next switch on, update at 6%. Eventually (3 hours later) laptop indicated ready. Offered language choice over and over. Impossible to log on. Cannot access anything. Perfectly serviceable computer now will not load windows.

 

Frequent problems with updates but first time unable to even access files on hard drive.

 

Sick of faulty microsoft updates.

 

Anyone any suggestions?
