When I try to update i continuously get the error code 80070002. I've tried

following all the recommended ways of fixing it but I still get the error

code. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this. Im currently running Vista

Home Edition.

Did you stop the Windows Update service and then delete the contents of

WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore ?

Please post the contents of the setuperr.log

Go to Start > Run > copy and paste the below into the Open: line

%windir%\logs\dpx\setuperr.log

Click OK or press Enter

Hey I tried to tried to get the contents of the setuperr.log however when I

tried to run it, it i get a message saying access denied. I have also tried

stopping the update service and deleting the contents of the DataStore

multiple times but still nothing.

Sorry, Vista not installed here and I have no idea how you can open the

setuperr.log unless it's as in XP Pro, where you'd have to navigate to

the log, right click it, choose Properties, click the Security tab and

then add your User Account to the Group that can access it.

Have you attempted to manually download updates from the MS Download

Center and use 'Run as administrator' by right clicking the downloaded

updates ? Suggest you do that BUT, prior to installing them, temporarily

disable the installed antivirus/security software from any real time

monitoring of the system.

Were you able to do the above or is there another message preventing you

from doing so ?
