Using Windows Pic and Fax Viewer

Hi. A friend brought this to my attention and we have a question.....when

dowloading a picture attached to a email and we open it, it comes up in the

windows pic and fax viewer screen. The red arrows let you go forward or

backward to other pics and such that I guess we have looked at somewhere

either thru our email attachments or just from being on a site. These

images can be anything from a pic or a symbol or even a blank screen. When

we click on the red X in the bar below it asks us if we want to delete this

image and when we do it deletes it and sends it to the recycle bin. My

question is I assume somehow these images get stored on our computer

somewhere even though we didn't save them.....is this true...........are all

these images taking up space on my computer somewhere. If so is there a

way to bring up all these images to delete them at one time or do we have to

spend hours away deleting each one, one at a time thru the Windows Pic and

Fax Viewer screen.........if so, this is ridiculous and why the images are

saved I don't know

Thanks for any help anyone can offer in this matter

Those are temp. files. Use Crap Cleaner to get rid of them in one fell

swoop. Get it free at ccleaner.com

The attached images are being opened from Temp Internet Files. You can

avoid this by saving the attachments to somewhere else before clicking

on them. There is no point in deleting your way through your Temporary

Internet Files and certainly not through Pic&Fax Viewer.!

Thanks Tom and Alias........will check out the CCleaner........Tom, when I

delete my temporary files then all these pics and such should be deleted.

Also I am not saving this stuff to begin with. I was out on the U.S. Mint

website earlier today and was just viewing the site........when I was in

these pics I noticed images of the coins and such that were on the site. I

didn't even click on these images to save them or anything. Apparently pic

and fax viewer likes to store stuff u look at even though you don't save or

download it.

Again thanks for your help.

Larry,

this is Temporary Internet Files not just temporary files. Everything

you view on websites is downloaded and saved there to avoid repeated

downloading. It's a natural browser function. Pic&Fax viewer is just

one way of looking at them.

If you are saying that

Internet Explorer - Tools - Internet Options - General tab - Browsing

History section .. Delete ... - Delete files

does not remove these files then I am at a loss to explain.

There is normally no need to delete them anyway. You might want to look

at 'Browsing History .. Settings' as well.

If I'm just going over familiar ground for you I'm sorry.

We are in the wrong newsgroup for this by the way, before the MS

Communities Police turn up :-)

Regards

Tom
