Guest Mars_is_stuck Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Fact is, this month it's not even getting to first base. Windows XP Pro SP2 box. When I ran WU in IE7, got notification that the update software needed to be updated itself. Clicked on the Update Windows button...don't recall for sure if one of the pale yellow bar warnings came up if it did I likely ok'd the warning...files downloaded, then supposedly installed. But then the IE7 session stalls, and I then get the following: [Error number: 0x80070005] The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem. For self-help options: - Frequently Asked Questions - Find Solutions - Windows Update Newsgroup For assisted support options: - Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for Windows Update issues) I've rerun this several times. Evidently, whatever TRIED to install the first time around didn't try hard enough to get itself actually installed as the progress report in IE seemed to indicate as it was running. So now I'm stuck, and not sure what to do next (I have a few choice thoughts, but none of them are repeatable in polite company, and do little to actuall FIX the situation at hand). Any advice that might get this box into an updating mode would be appreciated. TIA.
Guest JohnBurns Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I can't get the Windows Update Website to work today either. It just indicates there is a problem with the page.
