Guest Tony Batchelor Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I have used a programme that fixes Update and MS Installer problems. Now all my updates have been installed sucessfully. You can download it for free at http://djlizard.net/software/Dial-a-fix-v0.60.0.24.zip It was recommended to me by MS updates support desk. "Russell" wrote: > Help.... Guest LennyV Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Use the MS Knowledge Base search on this suggested fix. Normally, if MS suggested a fix, it would be in their KB. This way you are certain that you are not getting malware. -- Lenny V "Tony Batchelor" wrote: > I have used a programme that fixes Update and MS Installer problems. Guest SparkS Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 This is supposedly the VISTA community. Why are numerous posts referring to XP? I need some SERIOUS help getting VISTA to get Windows updates. I cannot ask MS because they claim my product is invalid. It is NOT. One of the solutions says to make sure 3 websites are listed in the Win Firewall permissions. Problem is Win Firewall only accepts programs and NOT links. Instead of naming this Vista Ultimate they should have named it Windows Ultimate Piece of JUNK. It's worse than ME! To spend nearly $5000 on a new computer only to find the OS is an unbelievable piece of junk is extremely upsetting. "Russell" wrote: > Help.... You have come into newsgroups and this group is for all updates on all systems. Antioch
Guest Tony Batchelor Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Lenny The programme I suggested does not alarm Windows Defender! Anyway. the programme was recommended to me in an official Microsoft Support Case email response. I had used the Windows Update Support link from the Update homepage to ask for help. It was only later that I discovered this Communities website. "LennyV" wrote: > Use the MS Knowledge Base search on this suggested fix. Normally, if MS > suggested a fix, it would be in their KB. Guest SparkS Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Antioch, Thanks for the info, I can only go by what the page says at the very top "Windows Vista Community" Please excuse my obvious ignorance. It appears I have once again been screwed by MicroSoft. BTW for what's it worth I was able to send an EM to Microsoft support via their web site. They didn't ask for my valid product ID that the Windows site claims is invalid. (Yes I activated Vista or at least I think I did?) If I get something of use I will post it here. PS Consider yourself lucky. I have been unable to DL USENET headers for 3 months now. Have tried 6 diff NG programs, 3 diff NG servers and 2 different computers. Just spent 45 mins of wasted time trying to resolve this with the so called tech support at Comcast. Oh well, at least I cannot blame this one on MS.
