Guest michelle Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 yesterday windows prompted me to install updates. it downloaded, installed and asked me to restart my pc. i was going to bed so i manually shut down. today when i started my pc after the bios load it went to a blank screen with a flashing curser. i restarted. this time it advised me my boot disk was corrupted and did a scan. i restarted. windows booted up but stopped at the welcome page. a pop up advised me that in order to restart windows i should insert my windows disk to reinstall as my copy was invalid (it's not). i did so, the disk whirred but nothing happened. i rebooted. now it was possible to enter windows safe mode and run system restore (too before i installed my windows updates). windows is now back to normal. it keeps prompting me to update. i tried updating the 4 latest patches (explorer 7 security patch, various security patchs) but now it freezes while installing and a window pops up telling me "windows modules installation has stopped working". Guest Bret Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I'm having this same problem, please if anybody knows of a solution post it!! I'm begging!
Guest Mike Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 I'm having this same problem as well. Windows support has been VERY unhelpful, and if this conflicts with SP1, I will be ditching Vista right away. Guest michelle Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 now my computer will not update my mcafee or install adobe flash. i'm thinking about wiping the hard drive and reinstalling windows but i read another post that was said it was a problem with the "build". i would really hate to reinstall to end up with the same problem if it's a bug in the software i was provided. please note i have also tried shutting down my antivirus/firewall programs to see if it would help but it doesn't. any helpful feedback with what is becoming a common problem?
