Has Microsoft removed IE7 from Windows Update?

I have had to do a complete re-installation of Windows XP Home following a

system crash. Everything has gone fine and I have updated Windows using

Windows Update (over 100 updates).

Previously I was using IE7, however IE7 has not appeared as an available

update in Windows Update and so I am still using IE6.

About shows:-

Version: 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254

Cipher Strength: 128-bit

Product ID: 55277-OEM-0016194-98194

Update version: SP2

So how do I update to IE7?

Yes, since October 5th or so. Although until now there hasn't been

any statement by MS (I'm aware of) on the reason for doing so, it

*may* be related to the URI handling change in IE7 which opens a

potential security hole (running in Windows XP and Server 2003).

MS is working on an update to fix that hole, see

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/advisory/943521.mspx and

http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/archive/2007/10/10/msrc-blog-additional-details-and-background-on-security-advisory-943521.aspx

Until this update is released by MS, I would recommend to *NOT*

install IE7 on Windows XP/2003 anyway.

Bye,

Freudi

Yup, it returned. Do you like conspiracy theories combined with megalomania?

Bye,

IE7 via AU/MU/WU at least until the URI update has been released"di
