Guest TaurArian Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 This group is for all Windows Versions and you must state which version of windows you are using. For Vista, start a free Windows Update support incident request: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=6527 "RENEE" wrote: > The fact that I am in the Windows Vista discussion group might have given you > a clue > > "PA Bear" wrote: > > > How were we to know you're running Vista? > > > > RENEE wrote: > > > Doesn't look exactly like the instructions for Windows Vista. > > > > > > "TaurArian [MS-MVP]" wrote: > > > > > >> Guessing - > > >> > > >> Scroll to: Error 5: Access is Denied > > >> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910337/en-us > > >> > > >> -- > > >> ==================================== > > >> TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2008 - Australia > > >> ==================================== > > >> How to make a good post: http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm > > >> Defending your machine: http://defendingyourmachine2.blogspot.com/ > > >> http://taurarian.mvps.org/index.htm > > >> > > >> Emails will not be acknowledged - please post to the newsgroup so all may > > >> benefit. > > >> > > >> > > >> "RENEE" <RENEE@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > > >> news:FD911884-5606-43DD-88C7-BC9D78CC7221@microsoft.com... > > >>> Cannot install latest update. Guest RENEE Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 I tried yesterday and today to email a support incident through the site you gave me. I keep getting this error message: "an unknown application error occurred. Please try again in a few minutes" Now, I still can't download updates nor can I get help from the Microsoft site.... any other suggestions please. Guest PA Bear Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 Always state your Windows version when posting to any public newsgroup or forum, regardless of how you access it. You might be accessing the Windows Update newsgroup via the Vista Community Discussions web-interface but I can assure you that most of us are not. The newsgroup is microsoft.public.windowsupdate, where we deal with all Windows versions, and it can be accessed any number of ways. On the web: http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/list/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windowsupdate In your default newsreader: http://news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsupdate -- ~PA Bear RENEE wrote: > The fact that I am in the Windows Vista discussion group might have given > you a clue > > "PA Bear" wrote: > >> How were we to know you're running Vista? >> >> RENEE wrote: >>> Doesn't look exactly like the instructions for Windows Vista. >>> >>> "TaurArian [MS-MVP]" wrote: >>> >>>> Guessing - >>>> >>>> Scroll to: Error 5: Access is Denied >>>> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910337/en-us >>>> >>>> -- >>>> ==================================== >>>> TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2008 - Australia >>>> ==================================== >>>> How to make a good post: http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm >>>> Defending your machine: http://defendingyourmachine2.blogspot.com/ >>>> http://taurarian.mvps.org/index.htm >>>> >>>> Emails will not be acknowledged - please post to the newsgroup so all >>>> may >>>> benefit. >>>> >>>> >>>> "RENEE" <RENEE@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >>>> news:FD911884-5606-43DD-88C7-BC9D78CC7221@microsoft.com... >>>>> Cannot install latest update. Guest PA Bear Posted October 19, 2007 Posted October 19, 2007 How about using the telephone? Customers in the U.S. and Canada can receive technical support from Microsoft Product Support Services at 1-866-PCSAFETY. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with security updates. When you call, clearly state that your problem is related to a Security Update and cite the update's KB number (e.g., KB931678). In other countries, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?pr=securityhome > "No-Charge Support...for virus and other security-related" issues in right-hand menu for localized contact information. For more information about how to contact Microsoft for support issues, visit the International Support Web site: https://support.microsoft.com/common/international.aspx -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.org/ RENEE wrote: > I tried yesterday and today to email a support incident through the site > you > gave me.
