Vista Update wants to download Office 2003 SP3, even though i don't have the

suite installed (I have Office 07 installed, not 03). Makes no sense, but

that's what it's doing. Any suggestions?

The common culprit for people who only installed Office 2007 is the Office

2003 Web component... If you previously had Office 2003 installed and you

did not completely remove it (even if you THOUGHT you had - that can also

cause a download and installation of something like SP3 for Office 2003.)

Office Update offers updates for Office programs that you do not have

installed

I'm having exactly the same problem and posted a question about it. This

information was very helpful. I also have an XP machine running Office 2003

trying to install an Office XP update.

No -- it's brand new computer with only Vista and Office 07 ever installed on

it. but thanks for taking the time to respond.

PS To be clear, it's happening through the Vista Windows Update applet,

which handles updates to all Microsoft installed programs, not through the

Office Update website, which I used to use on computer at my old job.
