Guest LMacNeill Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Every time I try to install the update for KB939653, it fails with error code 0x80073712. Searching for this error code, I get KB931712 which tells me to delete the HKLM\COMPOENENTS\StoreDirty value from the registry. However, this value does not exist. And, my "Windows Features" dialog box is NOT empty, anyway... It appears that it simply will not download this update (KB939653), according to the WindowsUpdate.log file. So how do I manually download and install this update? Or is that even possible? Thanks for any info you can provide, Laurence MacNeill Mableton, Georgia, USA
Guest PA Bear Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Windows version? The "Windows Features" dialog box is empty in Windows Vista, or you receive an error message that includes the following code when you try to use Windows Update: "0x80073712": http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931712 -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.org/ LMacNeill wrote: > Every time I try to install the update for KB939653, it fails with error > code 0x80073712. Can't delete something that's not there, so obviously that KB article will not solve my problem. :-) Any other suggestions? Thanks, Laurence MacNeill Mableton, Georgia, USA

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.
