Guest Bob C. Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I have an HP 854n Media Center PC that was running MCE 2004 and having no problems with downloading and installing critical updates. I installed the MCE 2005 Upgrade CD that I received from HP and everything went smoothly. However, I've noticed that now when I go to Windows Update, I get the normal message that first appears stating that it's checking my system to make sure I have the most current update software. Then it brings up the screen where I can select "Express" or "Custom" (which is the normal process). Once I click on either one of the choices (Express or Custom), it states that it's checking my system for the latest updates but the little rectangular progress bar is completely white and it never does do anything else except eventually timeout. Is there a way that I can fix Windows Update so that it works again? Thanks a bunch!
Guest Engel Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Hello Bob, Please do BOTH of the following: 1. Download and install update KB927891 version 3: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891 and then reboot. 2. For 32-bit systems, download and save to hard disk, and then install: http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe Reboot again. Visit Microsoft Update again. Good luck - -- --- "Bob C." wrote: > I have an HP 854n Media Center PC that was running MCE 2004 and having no > problems with downloading and installing critical updates.
