Guest Srinath Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Hi there, I've noticed today that wsus is pushing out an install of Windows Desktop Search 3.01. The Microsoft page for it, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917013 , doesn't indicate that there is any enhanced security by installing this. Is this using a security updates server to push out a new feature? I haven't installed WDS before, and was wondering why WDS is been pushed through using WSUS. Cheers Srinath
Guest Jim Macklin Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Don't install it, it is buggy and causes a error message with Outlook Express. The error is that Outlook Express can't open [while it is open] and that the storage folder is full. Uninstalling WDS 3.01 did return the two systems to normal operation. But I suggest you hold off until 3.98 or 4.01. Guest Srinath Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Thank you Jim for your response. I was just curious why it is been pushed through WSUS, instead of us optionally downloading from Microsoft website.
