Cannot Install Updates in Windows XP Pro

Recommended Posts

Posted

After serveral years with XP Home Edition, I recently updated to XP Pro.

When running Microsoft Update, I get a list of required updates. I am able

to download them and verify them, but they will not install. They ALL fail

almost immediately. Any ideas what might be happenning? Did I miss some

settings.

Thanks for the help.

I found the solution at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144.

Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft

Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you repair a Windows XP

installation

Might I ask why you upgraded from Home to Professional?

Did you need the domain joining ability, the encryption or just more (easier

really) control over the users?
