Guest lef41 Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Every time I run Windows Update I am told I need to d/l the subject item. I have downloaded it 8 times (allegedly, successfully), but it continues to say I need to d/l it. I am running XP Home, SP2.
Guest Dan Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Follow the steps and links in the post below titled "Update fails reply from microsoft" posted by Ray &Fran. It seems complicated at first, but it's fairly simple and worked perfectly for me (I'm also using XP SP2) "lef41" wrote: > Every time I run Windows Update I am told I need to d/l the subject item. Guest Greg Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 After 2.5 hours with the help desk we figured it out. Down load Microsoft file removel utility. remove .NET Framework V 1.1 and 2.0 and 3.o Go back and down load framework 1.1 than down load the security updates. Than down load 2.0 and 3.0 than down load the security updates. It cleared mine up. -- Greg "lef41" wrote: > Every time I run Windows Update I am told I need to d/l the subject item. Guest TLP Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 This is crazy. I've been trying, all morning to fix this mess. I've followed the instructions from support people (clear as mud) and from support site. Still doesn't work, plus other stuff is screwed-up! Isn't it, or shouldn't it be Microsofts responsibility to send out a 'fix' via download, or something? I mean, really, WE didn't caue the problem ... the Microsoft update did.
