Guest John Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 If I let Windows Update in Vista try to install it, it fails. If I download it directly at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e9b64746-6afa-4a30-833d-e058e000c821&DisplayLang=en and install it, it shows on the "Review your update history page" as having been installed successfully: Security Update for Windows (KB935807) Installation date: ?7/?14/?2007 1:58 AM Installation status: Successful Update type: Important Fix for KB935807 Security Update for Windows Vista (KB935807) Installation date: ?7/?14/?2007 1:46 AM Installation status: Failed Error details: Code 80070002 Update type: Important But Window Update keeps trying to install it again unless I hide it. I noticed the name above of the successful one does not include "Vista" and the one that failed from Windows Update does? Also despite showing as successfully installed if I go to the Control Panel > Programs and Features > View installed updates it is not listed among the list of installed updates?
Guest Beau Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 I shut down Vista updates completely. I'll live with the security issues and rely more on my XP that I can dual boot into.
