Guest Leofort7 Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Good day! I think I got the registry keys of my notebook whacked by freeware claiming to clean & speed up computers. As a result, I could not readily install updates even if i had enabled the automatic download & install features. I heard that some of the updates have bugs? True or false? What should I do to get my notebook back to normal so updates are readily downloaded & installed. I'd appreciate hearing from any of the gurus in this forum. -- thtechie
Guest PA Bear Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 And did this Registry cleaner back up (or prompt you to back up) the changes you were about to make? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin DTS-L.org Leofort7 wrote: > Good day! > > I think I got the registry keys of my notebook whacked by freeware > claiming > to clean & speed up computers. Guest Leofort7 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 My apologies for only replying now but I have not been on line for a long time. I did back up the registry as instructed by the registry cleaner that i used. I also followed the instructions in the knowledged base--tried most if not all of the recommended steps to get back the registry keys in order. But while I achieved success in the microsoft updates, i have not been successful with installing updates to the windows defender which i have uninstalled & reinstalled hoping the drive the bug away. Thanks a lot for your reply PA Bear!!! -- thtechie "PA Bear" wrote: > And did this Registry cleaner back up (or prompt you to back up) the changes > you were about to make? > -- > ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) > MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) > AumHa VSOP & Admin DTS-L.org > > Leofort7 wrote: > > Good day! > > > > I think I got the registry keys of my notebook whacked by freeware > > claiming > > to clean & speed up computers.
