Guest DVox Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 After this update installs and computer reboots, I recieve the 'Blue Screen of Death' and the system reboots over and over again with the same result. I was able to restore my system to a date before this update and have since disabled automatic updates. How might I install this 'important' update and not have my computer crash when booting up? Booting in Safe Mode yields the same result. The only means I've found to bypass is to restore and not install the update.
Guest realcestmoi Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Hi there, Taking drivers from windows update is really not a good idea unless you like problems. If a driver updat is needed ONLY because the hardware does not work well than you should take it from the manufacturers website in this case creative. If the hardware works fine: leave it be working fine! If your system is not running well now because of the update you installed you can try booting last good known good configuration, try rolling back on the driver or restore the system to a date prior to the occuring problem and skip whatever driver updates from windows update in the future Best regards, Michel Denie "DVox" <DVox@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:03CB2B73-6AF0-4678-941B-A22CE1C5DC51@microsoft.com... > After this update installs and computer reboots, I recieve the 'Blue > Screen > of Death' and the system reboots over and over again with the same result. > I > was able to restore my system to a date before this update and have since > disabled automatic updates. Guest Xraytonka Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I am also having this problem with the newest Windows Update NVidia RAID driver crashing my system. Now... we realize that taking the drivers from windows update isn't a great idea, and if necessary to update I update from the manufacturer's site. But this Update is a Recommended/Mandatory one, not Optional, and unless you turn off Windows Update, you continually have this problem bring up the recurring BSOD. It's not that we can get into windows and uninstall the offending driver after it has been installed, and thus "Fix" the Windows Update page to show that we've installed it. It will continually try to install this driver, and continually crash the system. Is there a known issue that isn't being addressed by Microsoft/Nvidia? This driver should be pulled from the Update until such time as it is addressed and fixed. Guest texaspetersons Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 I have this same issue, and I am now not able to run Vista backup of my drives. Since I see this as related to the RAID device, I am concerned this is what is preventing the back up from working. Is anyone experiencing this correlation? Guest realcestmoi Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Hi there, If your hardware works fine: leave it be working fine and never take driver updates from windows update unless they are driver(s) for a microsoft device, if not go to the manufacturers website that is IF an update is NEEDED because the hardware is not working well. Use last known good configuration ore system restore to solve the occured problem. Guest jrh Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Has anyone gotten to the bottom of this one yet? Does anyone have a source for an NVIDIA RAID Class Controller driver that works? I have an ASUS A8N-SLI SE motherboard in a homemade computer that I am trying to install VISTA on. NVIDIA doesn't provide a driver because it is an ASUS motherboard and the driver that ASUS provides for VISTA is a BETA product that crashes when installing. That is a minor improvement from last week when it seemed to run about halfway through and then just stuck! Any suggestions? -- John R H "realcestmoi" wrote: > Whats new? > > "DL" <address@invalid> wrote in message > news:O3X6pRz8HHA.484@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > > Oh dear corrupt/wrong version drivers from MSupdate again? > > > > "texaspetersons" <texaspetersons@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > > message news:569C921A-D8D7-4A54-8020-27CB973346E3@microsoft.com... > >>I have this same issue, and I am now not able to run Vista backup of my > >> drives. Guest jrh Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Thanks a lot Michel. C'est bon. I am starting to get closer to the bottom of this. first, a couple of asides for the benefit of anyone else reading this. 1. There is now a version 15.01 of the NVIDIA software, which I have installed. 2. Internet Explorer couldn't find the /drivers/drivers.asp webpage, but just go to http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/ and you go right there. "driivers.asp" gets tacked on for you. Disk Management now recognizes my RAID striped setup of two disks as Disk 1, Basic, 596.16 GB, with a status of Online. Actually, it shows a second Disk 1, Dynamic, Offline. This is divided into two partitions. One is 20.00 GB, Healthy (Active, Primary Partition). The other is 576.18 GB, Healthy (Primary Partition), which is actually divided into several volumes. But, I can't get VISTA to recognize or read the volumes. The only options in computer management when I right-click on the individual partitions are delete volume and Help. Running diskpart in a command line window also shows two Disk 1's. One is Online, 596 GB, with 4031 KB free and Dyn is not flagged. The other is Invalid, 596 GB, 0 KB free, and Dyn IS flagged. Any suggestions for where to go next? Should I delete the Invalid disk 1, convert the Online Disk 1 to dynamic, and hope for the best? Or, is there another way? Has anyone else run into this problem? Thanks again. -- John R H "realcestmoi" wrote: > For 32 bit Nforce 4 chipset AMD based go here: > http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winvista32_15.00.html > > "realcestmoi" <mdenie@dutchweb.nl> wrote in message > news:OJLJkmK9HHA.3400@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > > Hi there, > > > > As far as I can tell you can download Vista 32 en 64 bit drivers fromm > > Nvidia: http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp platform and > > chipset drivers> Nforce4 SLI Intel and choose your OS assuming that > > Nforce4 SLI Intel is the chipset on your mainboard.. > > > > Best regards, > > Michel Denie > > > > "jrh" <jrh@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > > news:BDB9918F-947E-4EEE-802C-B47117E60851@microsoft.com... > >> Has anyone gotten to the bottom of this one yet? > >> Does anyone have a source for an NVIDIA RAID Class Controller driver that > >> works? > >> > >> I have an ASUS A8N-SLI SE motherboard in a homemade computer that I am > >> trying to install VISTA on.
