System Hangs for approx 3 minutes after resume

Since appying the July update to my Sony Laptop I have had problems when

windows starts / resumes. The entire system will appear to be working, but

no programs will load. After approx 3 minutes, everything i've clicked on

will suddenly spring to life!

 

Is anyone out there suffering the same problem / know of a solution?
