Guest 2604ashleigh Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 The other day my computer automatically updated (vista) as it normally does. When I restarted my computer it came up with an error saying something along the lines of "the driver is not compatible with the operating system you are trying to install" which is WEIRD. The negative effect alongside the error msg was that I could not connect to my wireless network. When I was trying to figure out how to fix the thing, I thought maybe it was one of the updates that set off this error. I uninstalled KB935280 because it was 'recommended' not 'important'. Upon restarting, the system was back to normal and no problems whatsoever. This morning I turned my computer on, and the same error msg came up. I checked updates and sure enough it had installed KB935280 again. I uninstalled it. What I decided to do was to set my updates to not be automatic but to ask me before downloading and installing them. This is all well and good in the meantime, but it keeps reminding me to install the update. How do I get rid of it for good? Is there anything I can do to make my driver compatible so that I can install it? no idea. please help.
Guest Engel Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 I think you all should just hide the update and wait until Microsoft get their act together and comes up with a patch for this. 1. Open IE and go to the Windows Update site directly: http://www.windowsupdate.com 2. Click "Custom Install" to scan your system (Not Express Install). 3. After it finishes, please unclick the incorrect update. 4. Choose "Don't show this update again" 5. Please scan the computer again to check the result -- "2604ashleigh" wrote: > The other day my computer automatically updated (vista) as it normally does. > When I restarted my computer it came up with an error saying something along > the lines of "the driver is not compatible with the operating system you are > trying to install" which is WEIRD. Guest TaurArian [MS-MVP] Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 1. Click View available updates 2. Right-click on the update you wish to hide 3. Click Hide Update 4. Confirm the UAC if needed http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=935280 The above link is information about the particular update.
