I have a fresh install of WSUS3 on a Win2003 SP2 server (freshly-built).

Everything seemed to go well and I ran into no problems during the install.

All of my clients are checked in and I've configured several groups for them,

based on location and function. I turned on Automatic Approval for critial

updates.

Now that it seems that everything's configured and operational, I'm testing...

I've made a new group and put my workstation into it. I've approved some

updates for myself and forced the issue with "wuauclt.exe /detectnow".

But nothing happens...

I also see that some workstations are due for critical updates, but they're

not being notified either.

Anyway, I'm poking around to see what I'm missing here and so far, I'm not

finding anything.

Where can I find a good, concise checklist for setting up a basic WSUS3

server and configuring it? I'm not trying anything crazy or fancy, just a

simple config.

Thanks!

Mark

This server is a rebuild of a previous one. I gave it the same name and my

update config on AD is still the same (and used to work before the rebuild).

http://www.microsoft.com/wsus is always a good place to start. There's at

least a half dozen links to various levels of documentation for WSUS on that

page, all of which should be read at some point.
