Guest gardenerstouch Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 That's what I get when I attempt to search for updates at Microsoft Update. Tried disabling Avast and Quero Toolbar, thinking they might be the culprit. Found two KB articles about this error labeled Solution I and Solution 2, but they both involve proxy settings on a LAN. I have no proxy settings and I have no LAN. I have made repeated attempts to download the latest updates since they came out Tuesday, but always the same result. I am running Windows XP sp2 with IE6.
Guest Alan Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hi gardenerstouch, If you are running Spybot and Zone Alarm, turn both off, but temporarily turn on your Windows firewall. Then try going to the Windows Update site. I had a similar problem at the end of June and by temporarily turning off ZA and Spybot -- including its Tea Timer feature -- I was successful in installing the latest software that the Windows Update site requires.
