Guest ytsejamfan Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 I have not had this problem until this week. I have been updating Vista since Feb. without any problems. This week, I started getting the error code 80070005 saying that windows could not search for new updates. Does anyone know why this is happening? More importantly, does anyone know how to reslove this? Thanks!
Guest LuisJR02 Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 I am not sure what causes this, but I found a resolution to the problme on another forum. If you delete the files in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, reboot then run windows update. Manually run the update process and it should begin and run as normal. Some of the files will not be allowed to delete due to being in use by the system. Just skip those files and delete the ones that can be deleted. This should resolve the problem. -- LuisJR02 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ LuisJR02's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=28350 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=785050 http://forums.techarena.in
Guest Sky King Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 Luis, if you first enter "net stop wuauserv" (without the quotes) on the Start/Run line then you will be able to delete all of that folder. ....Sky In news:LuisJR02.2u3zzi@DoNotSpam.com, LuisJR02 <LuisJR02.2u3zzi@DoNotSpam.com> wrote: > I am not sure what causes this, but I found a resolution to the > problme on another forum.
