Guest MowGreen [MVP] Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Thanks for posting this, JDD ! That method, as well as one for Vista x64, are listed here : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935807 > Method 2: Windows Vista 64-bit versions > 1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, > and then click Run As Administrator. > 2. At the command prompt, create the \LogFiles\Firewall folder. Guest John Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I already got one called LogFiles rather than logfiles. Directory of C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles 06/14/2007 09:03 PM <DIR> . 06/14/2007 09:03 PM <DIR> .. 07/17/2007 10:01 PM <DIR> Scm 06/14/2007 09:03 PM <DIR> WMI 07/17/2007 07:48 PM <DIR> WUDF 0 File(s) 0 bytes 5 Dir(s) 180,320,645,120 bytes free Should I delete it and recreate or rename it or what? As you can see it does not have a firewall subdirectory. "MowGreen [MVP]" <mowgreen@nowandzen.com> wrote in message news:##4GLoXyHHA.3916@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Thanks for posting this, JDD ! Guest MowGreen [MVP] Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 The KB article specifies, for Vista x86 : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935807 \LogFiles\Firewall > %windir%\system32\logfiles\firewall So, yes, the Firewall folder is needed. Why not just follow the method laid out in the KB ? Guest John Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Thanks, got it and it worked fine. I was confused as it states a case sensitive directory should be created then below in the example it removes the case sensitivity of the directory. I have since learned that Vista directory names are case insensitive so while the instructions are inconsistent I guess it does not matter. Guest Steve Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Thank you John Dean Dallas for being the first person to post a "real" solution that is extremely simple, helpful, and work. This update also worked 100% well for me though I did check 4 times with my updater so my eyes are not playing tricks on me. It really did work. Thank you so much.
