Guest kwdaves Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 I have been updating a brand new Gateway computer and three updates dated July 10, 2007 and now a new one have failed so many times I have turned off Automatic Updates. None of the troubleshooting steps in Windows Help and Support have worked. Now I cannot seem to find a way to contact MS Support without paying them.

Guest John Dean Dallas Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Create this folder and it will install c:\windows\system32\logfiles create a folder called firewall and the hotfix will install c:\windows\system32\logfiles\firewall This fixes it!! YIPPEE worked on 3 PC's for me all versions. Guest kwdaves Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 A file named "Firewall" (empty) already existed in my "logfiles" folder. Renaming it "firewall" didn't do any good. I did manage to find the proper way to submit email support requests and am waiting for a reply. In the meantime Automatic Updates are disabled on my machine. Guest PA Bear Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Which update failed to install? Is it listed in Add/Remove Programs and is it listed as successfully installed in Update History at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin DTS-L.org kwdaves wrote: > I have been updating a brand new Gateway computer and three updates dated > July 10, 2007 and now a new one have failed so many times I have turned > off > Automatic Updates. Guest kwdaves Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 KB935807, KB936357, and KB933928 all failed. Another update dated July 10 failed previously numerous times since July 13 when I bought the computer and is no longer listed. Guest kwdaves Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 None of the missing updates are listed in the installed updates on either the update page or in the programs.
