Guest Sharptel Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Can anyone tell me what this code is, and how to resolve it? I can't find it anywhere on line or in MS "Get Help". I cannot get updates and Vista constantly tells me that my computer is at risk.
Guest MowGreen [MVP] Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 0x8024D004 = Setup has not been initialized correctly. Does that error code show when you attempt to install any update ? Which antivirus software is installed ? Guest Sharptel Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Re: I get Code 8024D004 when I try to get Windows updates with Vis I have Windows OneCare installed, and it's the antivirus software that I've been using for 3-4 months without a problem. Yes, that error code shows whenever I attempt to install any update. Guest MowGreen [MVP] Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: I get Code 8024D004 when I try to get Windows updates with Vis Did the Vista system come with another antivirus that was subsequently uninstalled and replaced by OneCare ? Please post the WindowsUpdate.log. Go to Start, in the Start Search line type in %userprofile% Your UserProfile folder should now appear in the left frame Open it and then drill down to the windowsupdate.log %userprofile%\appdata\local\Microsoft\windows\--->windowsupdate.log <---- Please post the contents of the WindowsUpdate.log Perhaps then we'll get an idea as to why the system can not update MowGreen [MVP 2003-2007] =============== *-343-* FDNY Never Forgotten =============== Sharptel wrote: > I have Windows OneCare installed, and it's the antivirus software that I've > been using for 3-4 months without a problem. Guest Sharptel Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Re: I get Code 8024D004 when I try to get Windows updates with Vis No it did not. I used two other antivirus programs before installing OneCare, but I uninstalled them both and the system has had no antivirus software for about 4 months.
