Can anyone help me getting this installed. I am running Vista Ultimate x64.

Have not been able to install this fix since June patch Tuesday.

This is what I get when I click on it in update history

Security Update for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems(KB931212)

Installation date: 7/3/2007 8:33 AM

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 800F0626 Get help

Update type: Important

Information about the patch.

then some urls for more information and Help and Support. Clicking Get

Help, is useless for me, as I find nothing helpful.

Symptoms I am seeing when patch gets installed.

Installation complete, restart system. I click on restart system.

On shutdown I get the message that Windows is Configuring updates, then

system restarts.

System comes back up, Get a Please Wait message, followed by Windows is

Configuring Updates. Then Windows is rebooting.

System reboots get the please wait and the configuring messages then I get

my password prompt.

Unless I turn off Autoupdates, the system keeps trying to install this fix

every time I log in, with the same results. So its turn off autoupdates,

till I find a solution. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank You.

Look for the context of that code or its decimal equivalent in the logs

that the install attempt generated.

For example, see if Vista gives any more information about the last half

than this (which I'm seeing on XP):

<cmd_output>

F:\WINDOWS>set /a c = 0x626

1574

F:\WINDOWS>net helpmsg %c%

1574 is not a valid Windows network message number.

</cmd_output>

If the logs don't help indicate what is happening (even the verbose log)

it may help to check the module versions you are left with the module

versions you are supposed to be left with (under File Information):

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms07-032.mspx

Also, I find running ProcMon to trace a failing install provides

a very useful supplement to any of the conventional logs,

verbose especially because it provides the most breakpoints

to check (not that it makes verbose logging any more understandable <eg>)
