Guest PA Bear Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 /Caveat emptor!/ Epinions.com - Posts in Beware of Soft4Download.com!: <QP> I just checked, and http://www.soft4download.com (redirected to http://www.oem4download.com) is registered and administered in places like Latvia, China, and Russia, probably to avoid anti-piracy and other consumer safeguards. And you won't find a physical address or phone number for these folks anywhere. I strongly suspect their wares are not legit... ....I recently purchased Windows XP Professional from Soft4download. The SN did not work. They supplied me with another SN and the software loaded. However, when I went to update DirectX from Microsoft, the MD website detected it as non-authentic software! and it would not allow me to download Direct X. In fact I can not download any of the free software from MS. In addition my legal copy of MS Office does not always work properly. I believe this to be pirated software! ....my buddy just bought a lot of software from soft4download.com (who also owns and redirects to oem4download, soft-centre.net, 4download.info, sdownload.com - just to name a few). all are the same site, all charge ridiculous cheap prices for pirated software - its definitely pirated because it comes with a keygen and other tools to pirate the software and the prices will never be as low as they list, so STAY AWAY!! </QP> http://www.epinions.com/msg/show_~threads/cat_id_~22/id_~4869/forum_id_~145 Anyone Purchased from Soft4Download.com? - Tech Support Guy Forums <QP> copied from the FAQ page... Why is the software so inexpensive? We offer the software for downloading only, it means that you do not receive a fancy package, a printed manual *and license* [emphasis added] that actually aggregate the largest part of the retail price. In this situation we are restricted in selling the products for private purposes only! You will not be able to get a technical support and different rebates from the manufacturer. Updates are available for the most of our products (you may ask our support staff for the exceptions) that make them fully functional and operating. </QP> http://forums.techguy.org/reviews/362806-anyone-purchased-soft4download-com.html -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE, OE, Security, Shell/User) AumHa VSOP & Admin DTS-L.org dgbury wrote: > I purchased this from soft4downloads, I have now also emailed them to find > out.
