Guest fnlvn2 Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 The solution is to register the Windows Update files. To do this go to the start button then run: regsvr32 wuapi.dll (enter) you should see a confirmation message. regsvr32 wuaueng.dll regsvr32 wuaueng1.dll regsvr32 wucltui.dll regsvr32 wups.dll regsvr32 wups2.dll regsvr32 wuweb.dll Reboot and go to the windows update site and try again. This always works for me when updates download but fail to install. "JohnnyM" wrote: > im using Windows xp Professional service pack2 and windows media edition > 2004 with 2005 upgade. Guest FoVer Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 This works! Great help! I'm just wondering: why did it fail to register in the first place? It's just that I'm afraid that it is a symptom of a deeper problem, which I haven't encountered yet... -- FoVer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ FoVer's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=28652 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=788204 http://forums.techarena.in
