Guest b4bball Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Windows XP SP 2 I have Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 with hotfix (KB886903) and .Net Framework 2.0 installed. I keep getting "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB928366)" as a critical update that I need to install. It doesn't install. Error message is 0x66A . Do I really need it? If not, how do I get the "yellow shield" pop-up warning in my toolbar from telling me that I have an update that needs to be installed. Help???

Guest spazz Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Hi - On the Windows Update website - you can choose to hide specific updates, so the yellow symbol on the task bar will go away. The exact same thing happened to me and I tried to repair my .NET Framework and tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but to no avail. I honestly do not think we need this and actually been told this. I just hid the update and my computer is working fine! Try that for now.......Good Luck~ "b4bball" wrote: > Windows XP SP 2 > > I have Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 with hotfix (KB886903) and .Net > Framework 2.0 installed. > > I keep getting "Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 > Service Pack 1 (KB928366)" as a critical update that I need to install. Guest Ralph Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Dear "Spazz" Can you be more specific in your "fix" .I have the same problem. The icon of updates is saying that there is an update. It shows the same one over and over KB928367. Where onb the website do you do this? Guest Ralph Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 I just tried the "fix" that Spazz suggested. True enough the icon has now dissapeared. I don't know if Microsoft will have a fix for this. But for now, everything seems to be OK. I did send an incident report to Microsoft and their response was essentially delete everything that was .NET and than reinstall. I have read so many posts where that fix doesn't work. I have read stuff from Microsoft that not all downloads will work either. Who knows Thanks to "Spazz" "Ralph" wrote: > Dear "Spazz" > > Can you be more specific in your "fix" .I have the same problem. > > The icon of updates is saying that there is an update. Guest Dan Y. Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I have the same annoying ERROR -- going to the ms update site to try and hide it! --MS should supply a "remove" utility to remove it. It does not show up in the contro panel -- since it WILL NOT INSTALL! KB928366 "Ralph" wrote: > I just tried the "fix" that Spazz suggested. > > True enough the icon has now dissapeared.
