Guest robin Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 hi engel. thanks for your reply, but neither suggestion worked. i followed both directions in the article, and did not get the name of the software that was the problem. there is also no proxy server when i went to the command prompt. it is a direct connect. any other suggestions? thanks, robin "Engel" wrote: > Hi Robin, > > Now I have the right error code, > > 0x80244020 WU_E_PT_HTTP_STATUS_NOT_SUPPORTED > > Http status 501 - required not supported > > > Hope this article helps to some degree > > This error relates to a HTTP 501 error. > http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811262 > Error Message: Error 501/505: Not Implemented or Not Supported > When you use Internet Explorer on your Windows XP-based computer to try to > view a Web page, you may receive an error message that is similar to the > following: > Error 501/505: Not implemented or not supported. > > > Type in a command prompt proxycfg to see your proxy settings. > > Type proxycfg -d to remove them. > > -- > > > "robin" wrote: > > > microsoft update gives me this error message. it says it has something to do > > with the proxy/firewall settings, but i cannot figure out how to fix it. any > > ideas?
