Guest recursion-al Posted July 28, 2007 Posted July 28, 2007 When trying to use online TV, I was told by Centurytel that I didn't Have Windows Media player. I have WMP 10. Tried to install WMP 11 and was told by MS install that I did not have a valid version of windows. Tried to to Windows udpate and: got message that I my system is unable to display requested web page. Error no 0x800A1391 (at least I think it was, MS still doesn't let us cut and paste messages!). I am losing faith in Microsoft.
Guest Engel Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Can you go to Windows Update, select Express (Get high-priority updates), and apply all offered updates http://update.microsoft.com Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and windows update will fail until you have these f!les. Also test this WGA diagnose test, connection to MS, that scripts working and a new Validation tool http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/ I hope this post is helpful. Let us know how it works ºut. -- "recursion-al" wrote: > When trying to use online TV, I was told by Centurytel that I didn't Have > Windows Media player. I have WMP 10. Right after I made this post, I found the answer in an earlier post - think I searched on the error number. Problem was Zone Alarm Pro - had to add the update site to ZA and I was good to go. Would have posted this sooner, but spend the rest of the day downloading media center rollout 2. Thanks the earlier poster who had the fix.
