Guest buddyorliz Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 I have Norton internet security on my XPsp2, In the event viewer I continually get messages reguarding windows firewall. Since I use Norton I don't think I need windows firewall (don't even think you can use both) So how do I get that perticular message to quit being recorded in event viewer? I have plenty of messages in event viewer everyday with out having one I do not need. Quote

NIS has disabled your native Firewall, which you "do" need. I suggest you uninstall NIS and find another security software that does //not// do this. BigBox Stores just love pushing Symantec product. Guest buddyorliz Posted July 29, 2007 Posted July 29, 2007 Thanks, I have always used Norton and except for the first year with Norton - all in one- or what ever it was called haven't had any issues. Is there something You would recomend? Are they All Synmatic products? Thanks "siljaline" wrote: > "buddyorliz" wrote: > >I have Norton internet security on my XPsp2, > > In the event viewer I continually get messages reguarding windows firewall. > > Since I use Norton I don't think I need windows firewall (don't even think > > you can use both) So how do I get that perticular message to quit being > > recorded in event viewer? > > > > I have plenty of messages in event viewer everyday with out having one I do > > not need. > > NIS has disabled your native Firewall, which you "do" need. > I suggest you uninstall NIS and find another security software that > does //not// do this. I would recommend a "stand-alone" anti virus product, like NOD32 <http://www.eset.com> *not free* - stay well away from so-called Security Suite product, especially anything Norton/Symantec. Good luck.
