computer clean-up

looking for a tool or site to clean-up or check patches and downloads from

microsoft have many that I don't even know if they apply to my computer setup

Can you go to Windows Update,

select Express (Get high-priority updates), and apply all offered updates

If I am up to date on the express updates and all the custom updates, how do

I know which updates I've updated in the past that are not needed or

obsolete now? For example: I have Windows XL & Office 2003. So why would I

need updates for Office 2002? Does Microsoft have a solution that checks old

Microsoft updates to eliminate unneeded files?

You meant Windows XP?

 

Do you have ANY components of an earlier version of Office? Including

any of the readers?

If so that is why you are being offered earlier Office updates.

 

Generally you do not want to uninstall any older updates.

As they are superseded, their entries should be automatically removed.

 

There is little to no maintenance for installed updates other than

possibly deleting unnecessary files:
