Installation Failure Error code 0x80246002

I've turned on the automatic updat on my Windows xp Pro X64 pc and ever since

July 14th this computer is trying to install Service Pack 2 but I'm getting

this same error over and over again.

 

Anyone?

Download the full file and try a manual installation -

Service Pack 2 for Windows XP Professional, x64 Edition, Windows Server 2003, x64 Editions

Windows Server 2003 R2, x64 Editions, Windows Server 2003 Compute Cluster Edition with

Service Pack 1

Windows Server 2003 Storage Server R2, x64 Editions

Hello TaurArain,

 

Thanx for this informaition, i've downloaded the file without any problem

but when I to run it I get a "File is corupt" error on "Extracting File:

amd64\msconfig".

 

I hope you'll have some more suggestions.

Have you run a defrag on your hard drive recently. Run a check disk etc.

Check for spyware, viruses etc.Make sure the system is totalling clean.

Can you burn the download to a CD and try installing from there.

Is it possible something corrupted the download - clear out all temporary files etc and

try again (if you can - it's a big download I know).

When installing, disconnect from the internet and disable antivirus and spyware programs

etc remembering of course to turn them all on once you're finished.
