Guest Mark Wilson Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 I have a newly installed server with Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) Enterprise Edition. When I connect to Microsoft update, it's stuck searching for updates (green progress bar pulsing across the screen) before eventually telling me that: [Error number: 0x80244023] The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view. The options provided below might help you solve the problem. For self-help options: Frequently Asked Questions Find Solutions Windows Update Newsgroup For assisted support options: Microsoft Online Assisted Support (no-cost for Windows Update issues) I tried the Online Assisted Support option but it's hopeless because all I got back was a standard response directing me to the knowledgebase (haven't found anything by searching on the error code), these newsgroups, or paid support... Has anybody got any ideas what might be happening? Cheers, Mark

Guest Mark Wilson Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 TaurArian, Thank you - that's really good info - I'd searched the KB but not MSDN (!) Strangely, it all jumped into life this afternoon (after several days of trying)... maybe there was a bad proxy in the way that has been fixed now. Cheers, Mark "TaurArian [MS-MVP]" wrote: > All I found on the error code - http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa387293.aspx > > 0x80244023 > -2145107933 > SUS_E_PT_HTTP_STATUS_GATEWAY_TIMEOUT > Http status 504 - timed out waiting for gateway > > Have you looked at the log files for further clues? > -- > ==================================== > TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2008 - Australia > ==================================== > How to make a good post: http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm > Defending your machine: http://defendingyourmachine2.blogspot.com/ > http://taurarian.mvps.org/index.htm > > Emails will not be acknowledged - please post to the newsgroup so all may benefit. > > > "Mark Wilson" <Mark Wilson@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:02411712-9755-418B-AE7B-9AFB356F24FC@microsoft.com... > |I have a newly installed server with Windows Server 2003 R2 (64-bit) > | Enterprise Edition.
