Guest bobgfish Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I've got a HP 7660 Pinter that has no vista Driver. I've got it set up as a 5600 as per HP article. In the last little Bit Windows update has started offering me a driver for it but I can't install it. Give the above error code. Any suggestions. Can't work out how to delsetc the update and prompt me to never install again if I can't fix the update error. Any download where I can just get the MS driver and try it manually?

Guest realcestmoi Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Hi there, Never take any driver updates from windows update unless you like problems. If an updated drivers is needed because the hardware is not working fine than download an updated driver from the manufacturer. If the hardware works fine: leave it be working fine. Go to the windows update site and on the welcome screen choose custom. After the scan has completed on the left side of the screen choose Hardware, Optional. Locate the Hp driver and click on the plus signa nd mark Don't show this update again . Guest TaurArian [MS-MVP] Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 The driver you are trying to install is already installed or the driver that you're trying to install is an older driver than the one you have already. All drivers should be obtained from the manufacturer's site rather than from Windows Update. Within Vista Update, to hide an update... 1. Click View available updates 2. Right-click on the update you wish to hide 3. Click Hide Update 4. Confirm the UAC if needed -- ==================================== TaurArian [MS-MVP] 2005-2008 - Australia ==================================== How to make a good post: http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm Defending your machine: http://defendingyourmachine2.blogspot.com/ http://taurarian.mvps.org/index.htm Emails will not be acknowledged - please post to the newsgroup so all may benefit. Guest debengel Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I really appreciate the info. Also I appreciate the info without the snarky remarks made by other users about my experience level or lack thereof. The basic human decency with which you have made your post made it very easy to solve my issue. Thank you "TaurArian [MS-MVP]" wrote: > The driver you are trying to install is already installed or the driver that you're trying > to install is an older driver than the one you have already. > All drivers should be obtained from the manufacturer's site rather than from Windows > Update. > > Within Vista Update, to hide an update... > > 1.
