"Out of memory" message after NAV 2007 install

Recommended Posts

One of our clients installed Norton Antivirus 2007 on an IBM ThinkCentre

8084 that runs a piece of equipment that they bought from us. After they

installed NAV, the custom application that runs the equipment will not

start. The only error message that they get is "Out of memory". The

problem has persisted even after uninstalling NAV and uninstalling and

reinstalling the custom application. Has anyone had any similar

experiences, or are there any suggestions about where some additional

information might be logged that would tell us what's been broken?

Would suggest that NAV or some components of it may not actually be fully

uninstalled, which unfortunately doesn't seem to be that unusual. Look for

the Norton Removal Tool at the Symantec site and then manually be sure that

all the Norton folders and registry references are truly gone.

I am not surprised at all on your issue

How did you remove Norton. Did you use their removal tool that is available at the Symantec site ? Norton is a virus by itself . To completely remove Norton even by using their removal tool is next to impossible. You would need to reformat the OS to get all instances of Norton off your system

It would help to know how much RAM is actually installed so a reference

point could be established as to the "Out of Memory". XP runs bets with at

least 1Gb of RAM.

"Out of memory" does not mean "short of memory".

It is usually caused by an application program accessing a RAM address which

is not in the app's memory map.

Finger definitely points to incomplete un-install of NAV.

The truth please! (sorry to others for butting in here!)

Ah, hello again Peter!

I posted this message to you on 9 July 1038 GMT but you must have missed

it:-

I would have/would still appreciate replies to my queries here Peter Foldes!

You did ask me a question!

Just so I have my record absolutely straight (and so that I may be confident

that I should concentrate my effort to seek out the 'bad guys' elsewhere) I

should be most grateful if you, Peter Foldes, would confirm here, for all to

see, that you:-

A. Have never posted advice on the Annexcafe User2User newsgroups (one in

the USA and the other in the UK) and

B. Have never posted anywhere using a different posting 'name' -

especially that of Derek Feldman.

If you are a good and honest person, I can determine no reason why you will

not respond to these simple queries. I understand that you are a foreign

national living now in Canada. I'd just like to be certain that your

'business' is unconnected with helping worldwide terrorism and/or enabling

fraudulent crime on the Internet. That is my sole purpose.

I look forward to your response.

If you do /not/ respond, perhaps others here will also start to question

your integrity!

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance

Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?

How large is your hard disk and how much free space. Right click on

your C drive in Windows and select Properties to get this information.

How much RAM memory?

What is the name of the custom application?

Hope this helps.

No, Sir!

Why do you think that David H Lipman is one of the bad guys? He was strongly

supported by Kerry Brown - do you think he is untrustworthy too? Both of

them support Peter Foldes. Might it be possible that we are fighting on the

same side if, as you intimate, you have identified at least one poster

mentioned as being unworthy of one's trust?

Hi 'Sharon' (?) - you appear to have impressive credentials, but I suspect

they are a sham.

I seem to recall that David Lipman told me once that you are, in reality, PC

Butts (and, by repute, a BAD man).

Is that so? Why have you suddenly popped up here?

Just why are you on PCButts1's 'Hit List' Fitz?

I'd like to know, even if others do not care. I recognise that you will

never admit to being a bad guy :)

Oh dear - yet another foolish response. If you have nothing sensible to say,

why bother to be here at all, let alone post?

I couldn't agree more! Why are you still posting?
