Trying to convert my old home moves to the laptop

Hi, I'm trying to convert my old home moves to the laptop. The tape play perfectly on the TV, however when ripping to the laptop they become jerky,. Can anyone advise what is causing this? This is a not a driver issue and i believe its something to do with the code and frame transfer rate?
