Guest Randy Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 For some reason I cannot download any updates to my computer even when I go to the website to try to download them I allways get the same message. "The following updates were not installed" These are the updates Security Update for Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP (KB936782) Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB936181) Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB938127) Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP (KB937143) Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - August 2007 (KB890830) Security Update for Windows XP (KB938829) Security Update for Windows XP (KB921503) Update for Windows XP (KB938828) Security Update for Windows XP (KB936021) When I go to the website and they fail I try to go to the update history and I can't find any. Can anyone help me please??
Guest MowGreen [MVP] Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Randy, If the error message states that " The following updates were not installed " it means that they *were* download to the system but some *thing* is preventing their installation. Go to Start > Run > type in [or copy&paste the below] %windir%\windowsupdate.log Click OK Please post the last 50 or so lines of the log into your reply. Guest twosticks Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Not working: Re: "The following updates were not installed" Well, I thought it worked (on my daughter's PC) but I just now logged onto it and the same update came up again, AFTER doing the 'fix.' Any ideas why it didn't stick or failed entirely? 1. Click on Start and then click Run, > > 2. In the open field type "REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL" (without quotation marks) and > > press Enter. > > 3.
