Guest billf Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 The last 2 times I received a Vista update (home premium edition) it broke my Outlook software. When I launched the program it stated "Outlook is not your default email program" even though it is set that way in Program Defaults. When I tried to send or receive mail, I received a "Not Implemented" error. I had to insert the Office Professional CD, launch Setup, and select "Repair". The program ran for about 10 minutes, then required a reboot. After that Outlook ran ok. Am I the only one having this problem? Is MS aware of this? Can or will they fix it?
Guest Anthem Bill Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Can't offer much help, but can commiserate. Have a similar problem in that Windows updates often (but not always) trigger a failure in Outlook that requires that i reinsert the Office 2007 disk and run "repair". That usually fixes it, but sometimes I also need to go to a previous System Restore point. Huge pain in the a--, and can only assume that MSFT is aware of the problem. Guest billf Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Thanks Bill at least I am not the only one, but am surprised at the lack of more responses. You would think thousands of people would have the same problem. "Anthem Bill" wrote: > Can't offer much help, but can commiserate. Guest billf Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I never suggested we do away with updates I'm curious that a repeating pattern of problems with recent updates has not been addressed. I was an earlier adopter of Vista knowing full welll I would be subject to a series of fixes (from my experience with every other new OS), but I am not accustomed to having updates break things. Is all I'm saying.
