Guest nospam Posted August 16, 2007 Posted August 16, 2007 I accidentally deleted the file I needed to answer. Anyway, I was complaining about not being able to download XP updates when notified by the yellow shield. I have it set to notify me and wait for my ok to download. The problem is that the files don't want to download from the yellow sheild prompt or from the Windows Update site. I tried to download them as a group and as individual files. It tells me that a file should download in 1 minute at my speed, but many minutes later there is no change in the download process. This same problem happened last month with downloads. I remember some workarounds, but did not make note of them because I thought it was a one time thing. Wrong again. I was notified of 11 update files. I have managed to find 10 of them at other sites and download and install at what I consider normal speeds. I have one left to update. It's the NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1. Latest attempt told me it should download in 14 minutest at the Windows Update site. So far it has been about 20 minutes and it has downloaded 65.00.KB of 10.20 MB. Is this abnormally slow? Do I need to change some setting?
