Desktop computer crash some time ago. After crash I have tried to restore. Can you tell me how I can enter my correct key. I would like to upgrade the 7 back to 10 also. Can you help please?

Hello, I had a desktop computer crash some time ago. I purchased it new around 2004 with Windows 7. I upgraded it to Windows 10 over time. Since crash I have just been using my laptop. I now would like to get the desktop working again. After crash I have tried to restore from an answer that matched my enquiry on Microsoft Community. Although it now works with 7 quite well I notice that the registered product key is not my original. Can you tell me how I can enter my correct key. I have found suggestions on this site how I may do this but I don't seem to be able to do it with instructions given
