Anyone found out which update crashes programs using internet?

Hello,

Just yesterday my system was updated with the patches.

Today, any application that tries to connect to Internet crashes.

IE says there's a network problem (there isn't) and when I close it, it

crashes.

Firefox says the same and when I close it, it also crashes.

Windows live messenger tries to connect and fail and it crashes when I click

Repair button.

I can ping other servers (eg. google.ca) but I can't seem to use internet.

I can browse local network machines.

Does anyone know which update? It installed 3 updates yetserday and if

anyone had same experience and rolled back an update to fix, please let me

know.

thanks!

The bad update is "Automatic Update in Vista for Explorer 7 KB937143" Once it

is uninstalled everything works again. Why dooesn't Microsoft test this stuff

before releasing it?

I tried and it wasn't the one.

One of the updates I've had, restricted all 32-bit programs from using

Internet.

Those that use (IE 32-bit can't find network and crash when I close it)

That's very odd. The exact same symptoms have been happening to many people,

including myself, and this was the update that caused it.

You might want to remove all updates and just add them back one-by-one until

you find the one that kills your system.

Is Zone Alarm installed ? IF so, you may need to grant access to all

apps/programs there were previously granted access to the net.

Hi vwind,

I have found that the critical update "KB937143" for IE7 has caused the same

problems on my desktops after the autoupdate. Not installing this update

allowed IE7 to continue to work. I have asked for an update from MS but as

yet no response. Seems to be a Update issue with IE7.
