Guest sawon66 Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 I restarted after an update was downloaded and all the browsers have stopped working, IE, Opera all of them, but P2P and anything not connected to port 80 is working. I am using a live linux cd to get on line. every MS update after feb 2007 has cause nothing but problems. Firewall is not the cause can see nothing that would cause this. What to do say reinstall and I am going to a thousand forums and warning people to dump MS now I am on a linux as it is.? last time we went thoug this had to reinstall and fix everything three times more then 40 hours wasted, repair disk only made things worse and ended up total rebuild. What have you done this time and how do I fix it. Why did you do this to me I have better things to do? How I going to get a fix without port 80 working. I bet if others had Linux they could get on line and tell ya they have the same problem.

Upon restarting the PC in XP , XP contected the internet much more then it norm. does and the yellow shield for updates flashed on the task bar and then went away. The hard drive took off for a few minutes running like mad and reloaded the updates I had backed out by using the restore. Which had not fixed the port 80 problem. It then said 9 updates ready to install do you want to install now. I wanted to wait a back up my P2P part. files, but then the PC shutdown itself. I had to restart it. when I restarted it it installed the updated without permission. Now the updates that had caused the problem are loaded again but this time everything works OK. Its like a patch came in other then port 80 and fixed the updates and started the install over again by itself. I am just glad I didn't have to re install XP yet again.
