Guest Tom Willett Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 You can thank Auto Updates for that, ~Robear -) Installing manually with the AV auto-protect disabled takes care of the problems. Guest PA Bear Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I had eight (8) updates offered & installed by 5:45 PM on Patch Tuesday that's some kinda record with so many updates being released. PS: I didn't disable any real-time protection prior to installing & everything's hunky-dory. Then again, it's not a Vista box, so YMMV. <eg> Tom Willett wrote: > You can thank Auto Updates for that, ~Robear -) > Installing manually with the AV auto-protect disabled takes care of the > problems. > > Tom > "PA Bear" <PABearMVP@gmail.com> wrote in message > news:%23CE2BSR4HHA.556@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> I /really/ do. >> -- >> ~PAÞ

Guest TaurArian [MS-MVP] Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 No problems for me either - nothing disabled, stopped or anything, just as it came. All updates installed. Vista seems a real problem and no solutions for many of them. I ain't ready for Vista yet ! All Dell will do is get her to re-install the OS every time. I used some MS betaware before :-) - never again. Glad all worked for you all this month - so far my 'one at a time' method is working - perhaps I should not have said that? Rgds Antioch

I had problems in the past, but so far so good. I note that I have stopped my antivirus from scanning the softwaredistribution folder (recommended by Mowgreen). Virus scanning recommendations for computers that are running Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, or Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822158 This may have prevented a few problems over the last few months and I haven't had to rename the softwaredistribution folder for some time now.
