Why is my desktop and system tray unresponsive after computer has been idle for 20 minutes, browser still works, have to ctrl/alt/delete to get it working again

Hello all. This started about a month ago. Just over night, if I'm browsing with Edge, after about 20 minutes, the system tray and desktop no longer responsive as if it was just a photo. The browser still works but nothing else, cannot even turn the power off. I have to hit ctrl/alt/del and in about 5 seconds, I regain control. I don't have to do anything else but hit ctrl/alt/del to get it back, no reboot, no task manger, just hitting those keys brings it back for another 20 minutes. If I restart explorer.exe, it still will freeze up after another 20 minutes or so. If the computer updates and
