Why does phone link automatically text a selected contact's number with and without the area code?

I initiate text messages through the phone link app.I select a contact from the drop down menu (name and number with area code).Upon sending the message phone link automatically sends the message to a group consisting of (1) the contact - name and phone number with area code(2) the contact's local number without area codeThis creates a new message thread - separate from any existing thread on my phone or previosuly in phone link. It does not allow me to continue responding to an existing conversation.It breaks the syntax of a conversation (by starting a new/seperate one) and confuses simple co
