Guest Mark M Morse Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I tried to update a notebook running Windows 2000 yesterday. I've updated this system at the Windows Update web site for two years without incident. Yesterday, everything appeared normal up to the point where the critical updates were downloading. Each of the six update downloads ended with "Failed!" instead of "Done!". The problem is the same today. Does anybody know what might cause this? I did not do anything different, and the system has not been used since its update last month.

This happened after I perform a windows repair and re-activate my window os using the product key. There are a large number of updates, but they all fail to download. I tried install one critical update manually, it went ok but still having the same problem with automatic updates.
Guest phong Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Hi, Not sure if this will help you but method 1 from below seemed to have fixed mine. Thanks Freudi. Method 1: You may wanna try downloading Windows Update Agent 3.0 manually, save it to a folder and run the EXE with parameter "/wuforce" (without the quotes) afterwards: http://download.windowsupdate.com/v7/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe Start -> Run -> "[Complete Path to EXE]\WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe" /wuforce [Hit Enter key] Method 2: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914224/en-us Bye, Freudi ********************************************************* "mega" wrote: > Same problem cannot seem to download anyt updates at all > > " > > >
