how to get Bit Locker key

Hi, I have accidently turned on Bit Locker and am unable to get into my laptop when I go to her MS account to get the key it states Bit Locker is not active and so there is no key does anyone know a way of circumnavigating it or getting a key or any ideas would be great cheersTim
