Remote Desktop - Access is Denied screen

Hello,I'm trying to run Remote Desktop to access a company server. I am able to successfully open and run the VPN through OpenVPN Connect but whenever I get to log in in Remote Desktop into the server instance, I am automatically given a complete black screen with the message Access is Denied and an OK button that kicks me off the server instance. This is very strange because for the last month, I was able to log on to Remote Desktop server and work on the server with no problem. I don't think it's a VPN issue since the VPN is always able to run. How do I get rid of this Access is Denied black
